Mumford & Sons Unveil Gorgeous New Ballad

Mumford & Sons — the British roots rockers and recent SPIN cover stars whose 2009 Grammy-nominated debut Sigh No More has gone platinum in the U.S. — are readying a second studio album to be released later this year. But the group have been debuting new material on the road, including several tracks at their headlining slot at Glastonbury. The latest: the tentatively titled “Home,” which Marcus Mumford and Co. unveiled at a recent in-studio appearance for Colorado radio station KBCO. Stream the track below (via TwentyFourBit).

Unlike the raucous barnburners “Little Lion Man” and “The Cave” from Sigh No More, this new tune finds the boys exploring far quieter terrain. “Home” features delicately plucked guitars, banjo, and cascading piano melodies as Marcus Mumford delivers a lovesick tale of life on the road. “I’ll be home in a little while,” he croons in his deep, resonant baritone. “Lover, I’ll be home.”
