For some reason I feel it’s ‘ok’ to share this with all of you. This pic was taken a few weeks ago at Communion NY. If you pray, can you say a wee one for my dear sister? It would mean so much!
(Back Story) In May 2010 I surprised Dawn by flying her up from Florida to visit. She had just received some very devastating health news and needed some cheering up.  At the airport I pulled out two tickets for Mumford and Sons as an added surprise! She nearly hit the floor! Seeing Mumford and Sons was on her BUCKET LIST!  As luck would have it, we got to meet the lads before and after the show! We shared the ‘bucket list’ story with them and they were very honored and shocked that they were on someone’s “list”! Remember at that time they were still a ‘little boy band’ so it was hard to ‘wrap their heads around’. Two years later Ben is always kind to inquire about her health.  Dawn has a rare connective tissue disorder and has also survived a bout with cancer. She is undergoing radical testing and (hopefully treatment) at a hospital in Tampa Florida. Dawn is my rock. She’s the best friend I could ever hope for; always there for me even when she’s the one who needs someone to be there for her. I love you “Nawnie”! <3

So the Guardian has published the readers’ letters about Mumford and Sons…

ifeellikedaphne:

And I really suggest you read at least this one. He is great.

(You can also follow his tumblr here. And read the other letters here)

“Thomas J Gray.

I used to tour with Mumford & Sons if you must know. Marcus and I were at Edinburgh together before he packed in his studies to pursue music. “Good luck with that one pal!” I said to myself snidely. “Think I’ll stick to my history degree thanks!” It goes without saying that I now regret the arrogant assumption implied by these thoughts.

Anyway. A few years later and after months of unemployment and crying I was asked to come along and sell merchandise for the band in Europe and America; T-shirts, CDs, vinyl and so on. Very foolish decision. “It’ll be easy” said Marcus – but it was way out of my league and I knew it. The last CD I’d bought was, I think, Aqualung’s Dr Jones which – though a great tune – did leave me feeling somewhat lacking when it came to touring with an actual band that played their own instruments and sang Shakespeare ‘n’ stuff. So I bought a waist coat, a petrol station discount copy of Bob Dylan’s greatest hits and tried to get by undetected.

I failed miserably.

Four days into “tour” I awoke in Denmark to discover I’d left £5,000 worth of T-shirts in Sweden. Not a great first impression. “You plonker!” I muttered to myself repeatedly and into a tear stained pillow “PLONKER! PLONKER! PLONKER!” After crying and reciting these words of penitence all morning I finally plucked up the courage to tell the lads what I’d done. To my surprise they were very understanding, probably recognising that they were in part to blame given the frankly ridiculous level of responsibility they’d heaped on my shoulders so early on. I felt like Edmund in front of Aslan – forgiven and resolved to never let them down. Which of course I did almost immediately. And repeatedly. Their patience, however, never grew thin and for that I’ll always be grateful. And, I suppose, their music’s not too shabby either. That’s right, “Shabby”.

(From guardian.co.uk, posted by Anna Conrad, March 23, 2012)

All the letters are fantastic, but I must give a particular shout-out to my dear friend (and partner in Mumford crime) over at Mumford & Sons (Live).  The Guardian published her letter, as well.  Click over to read it, then click over to check out her blog.

Mumford & Sons at The Ryman, According to Mumford & Sons Blog

Well, followers, I put this off for a week and have been working on it for around four days (has it really been that long since the Mumford & Sons shows at The Ryman?!), most likely because in writing up my concert experience I must admit that it’s all over.  But I promised you that I’d share my experience and that’s precisely what I’m going to do.  So pour yourself a cuppa tea and get comfortable, because brevity is not my strong suit!

Click through to read your Mumford & Sons Blogger’s experience at the Mumford & Sons shows in Nashville on March 7th and 8th, including some hilariously inappropriate stage banter and meeting Mr. Mumford himself.  Enjoy!

Wise Words From Winston

  • Winston: You're from where then?
  • Adrienne: Northeastern Pennsylvania.
  • Winston: Cool.
  • Me: You have no idea where that...
  • Winston: Not a clue. But is it nice there? Do you like it there?
  • Me:
  • Adrienne:
  • Me: ... um.
  • Winston: So you should move here then! Right? Because the thing is, if you're already... you know if you're at the bottom of the something, then the only thing you can do is to get better, right? Right then. So, you just move up. You know? See the world.
  • Me:
  • Adrienne:
  • Winston: That's it.
