Mumford & Sons
Throwback Thursdays: “Hold On To What You Believe”

This video was recorded in Dublin, Ireland in late 2008, and it seems to be the only video available of this early Mumford & Sons song being performed live.

Click here to listen to the track as it was first released in 2008 on the band’s second EP, Love Your Ground.

Do you think "Where are you now?" is not going to be on the new album, or that it has another name :)?

- Asked by m-perrys

Hello! I’ve already received three messages regarding the fact that “Where Are You Now” is missing from the album track list of Babel, in addition to “Home”/”Meet Me Tomorrow”. Only time will tell the fate of these songs, but it’s possible they may be on the album under new names. It’s also quite possible that they could be released as the B-side tracks on any singles released by the band, which is how “To Darkness”, “Hold On To What You Believe”, and “Untitled”/”Nothing is Written” (now presumably “I Will Wait” on the new album) were originally released; check out the Discography for more details.

Thanks for the question!

This may have been asked at some point before but do you have any idea who sings with the guys on "Hold on to What You Believe" (the woman)? Also, which of the guys is playing the drums on this song? I can only find one really dark video of this song live and all you can see is Marcus.

Actually, no one has asked this question before, so thanks for being original!

According to the liner notes of the Love Your Ground EP, the background vocals were provided by “LM Dog and Ashley Lovett.” As far as who is playing drums is concerned, I have no idea!  One could assume that they recorded the song with Marcus on drumset, but, as you said, the one video available of the boys performing it live is too dark to see anyone other than Marcus on guitar.

However!

Luckily for us, someone’s camera flash illuminated the boys in that video long enough for me to get this screen shot:

I’m sad to say we can’t see who’s playing drums (actually, I don’t even see drums on that little stage!), but it’s still interesting to see how far the boys have come since 2008.  For your enjoyment, I’ll post the video momentarily.

Thank you again for your question!  Let me know if you have any others!
