Mumford and Sons to play football match at Dripping Pan in Lewes

Mumford & Sons will be doing more than playing music at their eagerly-awaited concert in Lewes – they will also be playing football.
The band will take part in a charity five-a-side tournament at The Dripping Pan, home of Lewes Football Club, on Friday, July 19.
Other bands participating in the Gentlemen Of The Road Stopover will also participate.
Charlie Dobres, Marketing Manager of Lewes FC, said: “We were aware that Mumford & Sons are football fans and we were delighted when they agreed to play a match, which we anticipate will raise a lot of money for the club.
“They are genuinely as excited as we about appearing at The Dripping Pan.”
Free tickets to see the football are on offer in return for volunteering to clear-up the Convent Field site after the festival. The initiative is being organised by the Lewes FC Supporters’ Club and anyone interested should contact Charlie@lewesfc.com
The Gentlemen Of The Road Stopover will take place at the Convent Field, Mountfield Road, Lewes, on July 19 (performances from 5-11pm) and July 20 (3pm-midnight).
On the Saturday there will be a free street party in the Cliffe Precinct from 9am-1pm, which will include street theatre and a busking stage.
There will be a youth stage in Harveys Yard (10am-1pm); a tea dance in Harveys Yard (3-5pm); and a locally sourced breakfast picnic with music at Southover Grange Gardens (8am-2pm).
Sunday morning will see a gig by home-grown local talent at the Tourist Information Centre. while all weekend Sussex Guild will be displaying their talent at Southover Grange, along with other local art and craft stalls.
The visit of Mumford & Sons promises to be a boon to businesses in the area. The district’s 1,000 hotel and B&B beds – and camping pitches for 15,000 people – are already fully booked.
Stopover organisers have released some extra pitches at the site and Spring Barn Farm, five minutes away, has extended its campsite. Local caterers and traders are being encouraged to take as many of the on-site pitches as possible. More than 100 local businesses have already been put in touch with organisers.
Southover Bonfire Society has been asked to jointly organise local traders in the Priory Village Marketplace on site. To apply for a trading pitch in the main arena or Priory Market, contact enquiries@everybody-s.com.

The band’s second album Babel was one of the biggest selling records of 2012 and it won them Album of the Year at the GRAMMYs. In June, they’ll headline Glastonbury alongside The Arctic Monkeys and The Rolling Stones.
